Exhibits & Performances

H.C. Porter Gallery
1216 Washington Street, Vicksburg, Mississippi
(601) 661-9444
www.hcporter.com/BluesatHome
The gallery has a unique blues connection anyone on a music pilgrimage would enjoy--H.C. Porter has a series of paintings called “Blues @ Home,” a multi-media exhibit featuring 30 portrait paintings of Mississippi’s blues legends, including Bobby Rush, Jimmy “Duck” Holmes, and the late B.B. King. The paintings are environmental, depicting the musicians in their hometowns--thus the name “Blues @ Home.” They are paired with oral histories and original recordings by each of the artists that provide a  glimpse into America’s music and the cultural heritage preserved by its musical legends. “Blues @ Home” premiered last summer at the University of Mississippi Museum in Oxford, then traveled to the B.B. King Museum in Indianola, Mississippi. Currently, gallery visitors can experience the exhibit, as well as browse the Blues @ Home prints and keepsakes we sell. With your listing, we could connect more music-loving Vicksburg visitors with this unique blues experience!
