Second Saturday in Helena, Arkansas this weekend prior to the Bobby Rush show

Every second Saturday from April to September there's a wide range of activities on the streets of downtown Helena, Arkansas including live music, crafts, locally produced food, and, this Saturday, a Kool Aid pickle (or "Koolickle") eating contest. For more information you can visit their website or join their Facebook page. There's entertainment from 5-8pm, including a performance by Clarksdale's Theo Dasbach and Rosalind Wilcox, but you can also visit the farmer's market between 8am and noon.

Earlier this week we blogged about the Bobby Rush show that's taking place later that evening on the outdoor stage in front of the levee that serves as the main venue for the King Biscuit Blues Festival.

Here's the official descripton of Second Saturdays
Helena Second Saturdays is a free community event series held every second Saturday of the month from 5-8pm, April-September. At these events you can expect to see and hear what makes the Delta region unique. You'll experience the sounds of blues and gospel musicians, the work of local artists and the smells of local produce and baked goods sold by our very own Helena Farmers Market. Like to shop? We've got you covered with our Cherry Street shuttle bus that will drop you off and pick you up at your favorite downtown storefronts. Bring your date, your family and your friends and come celebrate Helena, Arkansas with us!
