Vicksburg's Got the Blues - free blues every weekend

Over the last year or so the Vicksburg Blues Society has arranged a great series of free blues shows at the the Ameristar Casino's Bottleneck Blues Bar -- it used to be one night a week, but they've now managed to get artists for both Friday and Saturday nights, making it convenient for both blues fans and artists.

This weekend it's the veteran bluesman King Edward--he's originally from south Louisiana (his birth name was Edward Antoine) but has been in Jackson since the late '70s, having moved there from Chicago together with the band of Jackson native McKinley Mitchell.

Here's the schedule for the next month and a half:

May 17-18
King Edward

May 24-25
Wes Lee and Blue Roux

May 31 and June 1
Mr. Sipp, “The Mississippi Blues Child”

June 7-8
The Rhythm and Blues Review, featuring Lady L

June 14-15
All Night Long Blues Band

June 21-22
Clay Swafford

June 28-29
Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots
