New online magazine Mississippi Folklife launched

The Mississippi Arts Commission just launched an online version of the magazine Mississippi Folklife, which was previously published in a print form. The new issue is full of great material, including stories on Delta bluesman Ben Wiley Payton (by editor Mary Margaret White) and drummer Craig  Pickering, who shares stories from his years on the road with bluesmen T-Model Ford and Paul "Wine" Jones. That story was written by folklorist and drummer Larry Morrisey, who you might have seen at the Juke Joint Festival or at Clarksdale's Red's Lounge playing behind Jackson's Louis "Gearshifter" Youngblood.

It's not all blues; there's also a number of articles on foodways and visual artists across the state, a photo essays, and videos, including a portrait of the late musician and painter Duff Dorrough of Ruleville. And as you can see above, you're invited to contribute!
